Quarter 1 First week August 23 to 26th

r

Quarter 1 First weekTo understand and use the 6 acting preperation terms 1. Relaxation - (Physical & Mental - be aware of surroundings)2. Trust - (Mutual relationships - seek out the best in people)3. Discipline - (Stay on task, get the job done)4. Criticism - (Come to grips with it- don’t take it personal-learn from it)5. Freedom- (Free from any physical and/or psychological barriers)6. Preparation- (Get involved/sports, read, write, sing, dance or rehearse)Exercises Relaxaton: Simple Physical Warm-up. Who’s beside you? Who’s in front? Who’s in back? What process did you go through this morning before you came to school? Did you take a shower? Did you eat breakfast? Go through each step before you came to school. Now think of a sad moment. What did the surroundings look like during that moment? Now think of a happy moment. What was going on during that time? On the count of three, shout out one word to describe that happy moment.Trust Falls Another trust activityFreedom Imagination walkImagine you are a monkey swinging from tree to tree then fall to the groundImagine you turn into a little baby, then by the count of 30, become increasingly old until you dieImagine you come back to life as a butterflyImagine that a huge ice storm blows in and the butterfly you freezes to deathImagine that you wake up as yourself and you are in love.Imagine that the one you love has broken your heartImagine that your anger heats up the entire earth until it melts.Imagine that angels stop the melting with sweet cool rain.CriticismBad criticism has no specifics for growth and often is mean in spirit"You really messed up everything in that scene"Good criticism is specific and provides positive and growth pieces.I was impressed by your energy, but you needed to pay more attention to the other character during the questioning section of the scene.. Have students go up on stage and do the following: sing off key or deliver a dramatic line in a horrible way. Give good and bad criticism examples. Note: Don’t take criticism personally. Criticism is responding to the acting, not the student as a person. Also, students need to accept the criticism and learn from it in order to enhance their performance.

Victory - intention, what the character wants.Obstacle - Whatever gets in the characters way of achieving victory. Note: The job of the actor is to find victories and obstacles in roles.
