How do we learn?

learning by study and faith

learning is individual but also universal

the knowledge we gain in this life helps us throughout eternity

teaching helps solidify what you know, even sometimes teachings something you don't KNOW helps you UNDERSTAND it.

When should problems be addressed and who should take care of them?

Problems to be taken care of can be held off until the right person deals with them.

There should be a chain of command with dealing with problems. Hopefully being resolved by the two students but addressed by all. If there were a fight between students the chain would go as follows; Student resolves with student-Student resolves with teacher-Student resolves with principle and parents.

Who am I and what motivates me?

1. I am a child of God a future husband and father.

2. I am motivated by a desire to provide for my family and my wife Naomi.

3. I am motivated by understanding my purpose and by being given recognition by a job well done.

Why are philosophies important?

Philosophies are a man made idea. Therefore philosophy itself is not lasting. Because God is not any man made philosophy, He is perfect. So we don't need to be a part of a philosophy at all. We need to understand and be able to teach and learn from all types of people. But because we are in a Telestial world, these philosophies can help us master some important things that will prepare us.

What is worth teaching?

The only things worth teaching are those things that will prepare us and others for life with our Heavenly Father. That encompasses most education taking place in the world. But without the knowledge of God's plan it is all for nothing. That Gospel is the fundamental piece to everything we must learn. God can help us learn things we never could by ourselves.

What is my work as a teacher and learner?

The greatest work I need to do as a teacher is to learn. And my greatest work as a learner will be learned as I teach. There is nothing for me that has helped me learn more than a teacher that wants to learn with me. My work in education is to help others come to a reality that school is so much more than memorizing and recitation. I hope to help students better learn who they are and to learn to love learning.

Would we strike if we felt as teachers we weren't being provided enough funding?

Randomization- Spinner, Popsicle stick. The teacher isn't calling you out.

Testing-Where their final level is determines how smart they are and how successful I am as a teacher.

How the student improves marks how they've learned.

Realism

A world of things is more important than the world of ideas.

Tourists versus pilgrims

Schools are here to help students learn

We don't teach students so they can pass tests, we teach students so they can grow in their knowledge.

There is no "ceiling" to assignments. Create and grow in pushing past where you could stop.

True education is always evolving

We should be taught to act rather than be acted upon

Greene's reading: We must be wide awake.
Having students make and complete their own assignment based on what they have been learning.

Tenet 1: Education is about the learner

Students should be allowed to pick a teacher that suits their needs for the same subject.

The teacher and student must be willing to learn and teach.

Teacher could record what they have learned from a student each day or week.
