There are many different types of social relations you could find yourself building off of. Such as your friends, your enemies, your family, your romantic partners, and even your coworkers.

These social relations are a big impact on your sense of self and can even be used as a means of protection, like a blanket to your ego. A lot of people struggle to experience the highs and lows of life without a sense of support from their social relations and a lot of people feel as if their support makes them bigger due to the overflow of validation given to them by their social relations.
