Newtons Laws - Mind Map

Newtons Laws

Why do objects at a constant velocity remain at the velocity.

It will stay the same because there is no outside force acting on it

unbalanced force it would move the direction of the smaller number.

Newton’s FIrst Law - An object at rest will remain at rest and an object in motion will remain at motion unless acted on by an outside force

Net force is the sum of all forces acting on an object.

A car won't stop moving unless the brakes are applied because no force is acting on it.

Inertia- The tendency of an object to resist a change in motion.

Balanced it would stay still remain the same.

In which direction will an object move if acted on by multiple forces

I would move the way the smaller amount of N is.

Newton’s second law states that acceleration depends on both force and mass. It supports the idea that unbalanced forces cause acceleration.

kg x m/s2 = N

F = m x a

F up A up, F down A down, M up A down, M down A up

If I pushed a chair it would move the way I pushed it because there is less force on the other side of the chair.

How can two objects of different sizes exert the same amount of force on each other.

They can push at the same strength.

p=mv

Newton’s third law states for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.

Action reaction forces can cause changes in motion, are equal in strength but opposite in direction, act on different objects

Momentum - The result of the mass of the object times the object’s velocity.

If me and Bob push on a box with the same strength it won't stay the same because there is the same amount of force applied to each side.

IA: How much force pushing on a object

FA: If you are in a car it is moving because of force
