Add water to the mixture, and stir thoroughly. (The salt will dissolve, forming a salt solution, the sand will not dissolve and remain as a solid)
And the mixture of salt and sand is successfully separated!
Filter the mixture. (As the sand has not dissolved it will be unable to pass through the filter paper, as salt has dissolved it will pass through with the water)
Heat the salt solution until all of the liquid has evaporated. Solid salt crystals will remain.
