A person with body image issues is at a greater risk for developing a eating disorder
Negative body image is also associated with depression and loneness
Being around people dissatisfied with their body is likely to rub off on you
If you don't have BDD yourself, how can you look for it in others and what do they see?
They often bully other people based on personal appearance
They look at themselves in the mirror often
they judge themselves on things they usually can effectively not control
They are not able to see the "Big picture" in themselves
What to avoid saying to someone with BDD
"i know exactly how you feel"
comparing yourself to them or vice versa
This comes across as dismissive and can make it seem like you dont care
BDD is entirely self diagnosed
Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a mental health problem. If you have BDD, you may be so upset about the appearance of your body that it gets in the way of your ability to live normally. Many of us have what we think are flaws in our appearance.

You can put down a magazine but not your phone because of this.

Cell phones are the number one cause of BDD (body dysmorphia disorder)

what can you do to help with BDD?
Unfollow all the unrealistic photoshopped models from Instagram or tiktok
You can "take therapy or medicines"
Long term use of antidepressants may be causing body dysmorphia however this is not fully proven yet
We do know for sure that depression causes weight gain in many cases.
in severe cases you can even get brain surgery to neurologicaly rewire youreself to be more self positive
unpopular opinion, you can go to the gym and eat less, if you see yourself as to skinny you can go to the gym and eat more
BDD tends to get worse with age
However you can counteract this by doing the above or "big picture thinking"
Many people are so dissatisfied with their body image they begin to use steroids
3 to 4 million use anabolic steroids in the USA for non medical purposes
Thousands of people die annually due to steroid misuse
