Mendel nocited that a trait from the parent pea plant did not always show off up in the offspring.He moved the pollen from one plant to another so they could cross.He studied the inhertance patterns for many different traits pass.In one of Mendel's early experiment, he crossed a short plant and a tall plant.The result was all tall plants.Then with that F1 generation he elet them self pollinate.He found out that 75% of their offspring were tall, while 25% were short.

Mendal used used pollen from true breeding plants with different traits to produce new combinations of offspring.When Mendal crossed true-breeding, purple flowered plants with true-beeding, white-flowered plants, the first generation produced all purple flowered plants!Mendal gor similar to other traits.Whent he purple flowered plants of the offspring self pollinated, white flowers reappeared in the second generation.Mendal was very careful.to better control his experiments, Mendal used a method called cross-pollination.The parts of the flower that contain pollen (the anthers) were removed so the flower could not self-pollinate.
