Climate Change - Mind Map

Climate Change

Who is against solving climate
change and why?

People who deny climate change are either misinformed, not well educated or are trying to make a profit.

There is a lot of false information online which can make people believe that climate change isn't real.

Many politicians or government officials deny climate change because acting on it would cost the government lots of money, and they could profit more by hiding climate change, releasing false statistics and mining fossil fuels.

What are the main perspectives on
climate change?

People who agree that climate change is a problem

People think that climate change is a hoax

People who don’t understand climate change/why it’s important

People who are trying to hide climate change for profit

What can we do better
to solve climate change?

Inform teenagers and young adults:
Education curriculum could be more centered around the effects of climate change and making good decisions, such as voting for politicians who support climate change, to help make a difference.

Invest in green energy:
Governments could invest in green energy which would provide more high-skilled jobs while helping with climate change.

Contribute to sustainable practices:
As well as investing in renewable energy, the government could work on setting higher regulations for homes and cars so they are more efficient and use less power.

What is the problem?

Climate change is caused by many things, such as the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, cement creation and livestock.

Many statistics show that carbon dioxide levels are at their highest they've been since 650,000 years ago. Global temperatures have also risen by 1.8 fahrenheit since 1880.

Climate change contributes to more natural disasters, rising sea levels, mass extinction, famine and economic decline.

What is Canada currently doing to
solve the problem?

Canada has currently put 2.6 billion dollars into reversing climate change

Many people agree that more funding needs to go into this issue, or at least that the funding be used more efficiently

though we have a carbon tax already, Canada is still mainly relying on fossil fuels for energy and transportation

Though Canada is doing some things to improve this issue, deeper searches reveal that not much is being done. Government websites are being setup to make it look like our country is doing more than it actually is.

What are some organizations
that support climate change?

Alliance for Climate Change:
A not-for-profit organization that focuses on informing and educating young kids and youth about the effects of climate change and the science behind it.

Union of Concerned Scientists:
The Union of Concerned Scientists hosts a free online website with numerous publications from highly educated individuals who strive to inform the public about not only climate change, but the better and greener alternatives to fossil fuels.
