Of what is matter made?

Matter exists is in the form of a solid, liquid, or gas.

According to ACS, solids, liquids, and gases are made of very small particles called atoms and molecules. The University of Colorado (PHET) provides a simulator that allows its viewers to visualize what happens when heat is added or subtracted to the elements of neon, argon, oxygen, and water in their three states. It's especially helpful to see elements made of atoms that cannot be broken down any further.

a mechanical mixture is when you mix two or more substances and they don't blend well together. and a solution is when you mix two or more substances and you can not visually tell what's in it.
