Multiplication /Division

Meaning: Adding all the numbers
they see instead of
multiplying.

Problem: Adding up all of the wheels
will not help them move past
addition and bigger numbers
will be challenging.

This is a very good way to visualize seeing how multiplication happens.

This method is very good for children because it is quick. It is better then the traditional 'long division' way.

This is exactly the
opposite of the array
model for multiplication.

Meaning: Finding a range of
something

elementary students!

Problem: There are many steps;
students need to understand
why they are breaking down
these numbers or else they
will not be successful.

Meaning: Finding the area of
something

Problem: Almost ALL students will
struggle with this stratagy

This is a good way to see negative numbers for children.
