Sejong The Great

Who is Sejong?

He is 4th king of Joseon dynasty.
He made many achievements while he was ruling Joseon.
So he is a respected king enough to be called the Great King even today.

When and where Sejong born?

Sejong was born on May 15, 1397 in Hanyang, which is city, Seoul now. He was born as the third son. He also called as his personal name"Yi-do"
and as Initially titled Grand prince "Chungnyeong."

Why Sejong is famous as a role model for others?

King Sejong made numerous developments. Especially Hangul is a best known among his great achievement. He influenced the culture of Korea.

And he is respected by many Korean because he ruled the Joseon with a heart of love his people and protect the country .

What is Hangul?

Hangul (or Hangeul) is the korean alphabet that made by the king sejong which korean are using today.

Chinese characters were used as letter. But it was hard for the people who didn't learn those Chinese character. So the king Sejong decide to create own character that people could read easily and widely use in everyday.

King Sejong tried to create scientific and reasonable characters, so he eventually created the Korean alphabet that Koreans use now.
