Mr. Adams told old man Warner "That over in the north village they're talking about giving up the lottery." They bot frown upon the other villages idea for giving up the lotter because they think it's going to bring good growth to the fields. They both go on saying how bad of an idea it is and how crazy they are for even thinking about something so bizarre.

This is shown when Mr. Summers Called out for Dunbar, but he was injured and couldn't make the draw. Then Dunbars wife said she'll be picking for him which Mr. Summers didn't like so he asked if the boy was old enough which he wasn't. You have to ne 16 years old but he wasn't so Mr. Summers had to let Ms. Dunbar pick for the Dunbar family.^

How These Are Similar

These both show how the people get stuck in their own thoughts being right and sticking to the tradition they were taught. For example they think the lottery is going to help their crops grow by stoning someone when really they are just killing someone for the fun of it now. Then there is Ms. Dunbar who has to go up to pick from the box but they try to find a man in the family who is there but, there isn't due to the boy only being 15 and the husband had a broken leg. They had to let here though or else that family was left out of the lottery so, they let her pick for the Dunbar family
