The significant features about the Moraine is the ground water. From where rainwater filters into the soils of the moraine. the moraine forms the watershed divide between Lake Ontario and Lake Simcoe. the head waters to more than 30 different rivers.
the Oak Ridges Moranie was formed over 13,000 years ago. the glaciers started to retreat and the melting progressed, the ice over southern Ontario divided into two lobes forming a crack that ran along the Ridgeline of the oak ridges moraine.
