My thoughts about education

Who am I and what motivates me?

I am a daughter of God

His love motivates me

as I feel of Gods love, i can show that love to my students and use that love to motivate them as well.

seeing children progress and learn and grow motivates me

How do I view and magnify those I teach?

view children with Love

How do I learn?

everyone learns differently

i am a visual learning, it helps me to see what i will be doing, and often helps if i have an example or demonstration to look at

John Dewey says that children learn by doing and by doing things hands on

i am a child of God

love and repentance

because i learn differently than most people i know that the students i will teach will learn differently. I will show my students that it is okay to learn differently

i will give my students different ways to do assignments and projects that will help with the way they learn

moroni 10:4-5

D&C 50:24

What is the role of schools in society?

to prepare students to become citizens

it should be to help them learn and grow and not to just give them busy work

actually let them learn

get the child interested

to teach about Christ and His Gospel

understanding

Eternal Families

to bring up the student in life and knowledge

teach by the spirit so students can feel th difference and feel Gods love for them

they are built solely on the fact to educate students

i had a chance in high school to be in an academy for those who wanted to work with kids. it helped me to see that teaching was something I wanted to do. If i was not in this academy in high school i wouldn't have cared about my schooling and education nearly as much as i did

What is my work as learner and teacher?

my job is to learn everything I can to become a great teacher

Catherine Beecher said that being a teacher of a child is noblest of all professions

I agree with Beecher. teaching is a privilege because we are building their foundations and we can do so as we invite the spirit in our classrooms

to be a guide or aid for the student

Charity! moroni 7:47

put in effort in both learning and teaching

to incorporate the plan of happiness into my teaching, to obtain as much knowledge while i am here, to grow and become a good teacher to help others progress as well

What is the role of learning and teaching in the home?

Very Important! it gives the child a foundation and a place to grow

helaman 5:12 build a foundation in Christ and you will not fail!

Elder Bednar in this most recent conference talked to us about building our foundation upon the rock with is christ and not in the sand which is the world.

Elder Bednar also talked about how the gospel should be taught in the home

mosiah 18:9
