Growing Population

We needed Farmers

Canadian Government gave grants

Bloc Settlements were for people of the same cultural group

People started growing afraid of the new immigrants

Propoganda and Racist sterotypes began being spread

Many Anti Immigrantion Riots

In the West Coast, they targeted Asian Canadian Immigrants

They wanted a white Canada

Black people Immigrated to Canada

Some Canadian officials didn't like that

Caused many Job oppritunties

Canadian goverments would provide a better life

Doukhobor people came due to discrimination and unfairness in Russia

First Nations wanted to be Bros

Chinese people built Chinatowns to provide a safespace

Canadian Government established a Chinese
head tax to curb population growth

Jewish people only spoke Yiddish and lived in high
crime areas

Ukrainian people built their settlmenents in Edmonton

Children were sent to work on the farms, these children were 8-16 years old

Clifford Sifton was interior minister

Many people from all different countries came

Wanted European Farmers

Frank Oliver Took over

Created the Immigration Act

Gave the Government more power

Gave them the ability to target Immigrants
and Deport them
