Mark Twain, whose real name was Samuel Langhorne Clemens, was an American writer, humorist, and lecturer, born on November 30, 1835, in Florida, Missouri. He is best known for his novels "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn," which are considered classics of American literature. Twain grew up along the Mississippi River, an experience that greatly influenced his writing, particularly in depicting the culture, dialects, and people of the American South. Throughout his career, Twain was also known for his wry wit, satire, and social commentary. He remains one of the most celebrated and influential writers in American literary history.

He wrote during the Realism in the movement regionalism.

The story begins with Tom convincing his friends to whitewash a fence for him as a punishment, but he cleverly turns it into an opportunity to show off his persuasive skills and ends up getting the fence painted without doing any work. Tom's life in St. Petersburg is filled with mischief, as he often skips school, plays pranks, and seeks out adventure with his friends, including Huckleberry Finn.
One day, Tom witnesses a murder and becomes a hero in the town after he and Huckleberry Finn swear an oath of silence regarding the crime, and Huck fakes his own death to escape his abusive father. The boys also go treasure hunting in a graveyard and witness a gruesome scene, adding excitement to their lives. Tom and Huck get lost in a series of caves and, eventually, are declared dead.
However, they return to town just in time to witness their own funeral. Tom also catches the eye of a new girl in town, Becky Thatcher, and they become smitten with each other. Ultimately, Tom and Huck find the treasure, but Tom must use much of it to repair the ego of an unjustly punished friend, Muff Potter. In the end, Tom's Aunt Polly reveals that she knew all along that Tom was alive, and he is reunited with his family and friends.

A must read for all adventure lovers. Despite the fact that the book's language is complex, it is easy to read. And most importantly, the story is very exciting, and the main character, Tom Sawyer, resembles all the boys in childhood. Reading about his adventures, you want to be with him and experience all the interesting moments with him.
