The Battle of Hastings

Why?
The Battle of Hastings started when the king edward died ans passed the throne down to harold godwinson of England. Meanwhile the duke william of normady was furious because he got told by King Edward that was next in inline for the throne. William gathered an army and left france and sailed to the sussex coast of England.

What?
Harold had just finished fighting Harald Hardrada at the north of England. He had a weak army which had to edure a long hike to the south of England. He met William's army on the Sussex Coast. Harold had the higher ground advantage but he was over confident and thought William had given up. So he told his army to go down the hill and fight, but it turned out the William's army was much stronger. King Harold died later in the battle.
