Brazil is currently being urged by the UN human rights office and the OHCHR to find two missing Brazilian journalists. Dom Phillips, a reporter with The Guardian, and Bruno Araújo, an employee with the Brazilian Indigenous affairs agency went missing about a week ago. They were last seen travelling by boat into a remote part of the Amazon to reach uncontacted Indigenous peoples and conduct interviews with them. The relative living conditions in The Amazon is dangerous for the multiple tribes living there and also to outsiders. The Javari Valley, where Bruno and Dom were travelling to, is said to be heavily affected by human trafficking, fishing, and other illegal activity. It is unsafe for anyone living there as these Indigenous tribes live off the land and do not live in houses with adequate protection from such people. The implications that this has to the issue is that these two activists and spokesmen for uncontacted Indigenous tribes in the Javari Valley are now missing and the UN human rights office are concerned for their safety. No one has seen or heard from them for almost a week.
The regulations for missing persons are for the country of said missing people to send out search parties and ultimately do their best to find them. However, OHCHR and UN human rights activist do not believe Brazil is being valiant enough in their efforts and are urging them to do more.

The school threat at Ridgemount Elementary happened because a student uttered a threat to cause bodily harm and even death to students at their School. The consequence for this was increased police presence and investigation into the threat, and disciplinary action for the student. The continuity and change theory explains what has changed and what has remained the same over time. This event can be examined and compared from how school shooting threats were handled today to 20 years ago. Lastly, this event can be viewed from the significant events lens. This theory explains why specific events or trends are important. This event is important since there is an increased trend of mental illness in Canada, especially in adolescence, and it is important to take all threats seriously so that School shootings do not happen.

Hamilton Police are investigating another threat that was found by a fellow student of Ridgemount Elementary School. This coincides with the 14 other school threats in the Hamilton Mountain area just this week. All threats have been taken seriously, and thankfully, no one has acted on these. As of right now, four teenagers from different schools have been charged in connection with the different threats, including one 14-year-old boy charged with utter threat to cause bodily harm or death by verbal threat. The relative living conditions of these students at Ridgemount Elementary School is that they are living with a parent or guardian and having adequate shelter and food provided for them. These students are between 6-13 years old and are not financially independent from their parents or guardian yet. They rely heavily on adults for food, transportation, and activities in general. These individuals are heavily influenced by their parents and look to them for advice through their words and actions. This related to my issue since a student at Ridgemount made a school threat this past week. There are multiple different factors to cause this; mental health issues, social factors, familial factors, social media, etc... The regulations put into place after a School receives a threat is to have increased police prescence at said School, and to even shut down if the Police force feel it is necessary. These regulations have all been put into action and the students at these schools that received threats are safe.

These two journalists, Bruno and Dom, were going to interview these groups of people to inquire about how they live and draw conclusions about what has changed and what has stayed the same over their years of living in the Amazon. Lastly, this event can be viewed from the significant events lens . This theory explains why specific events or trends are important. This event is important since these are two Brazilian citizens risking their life for their career to produce information for the good of our society.
