The Rise of Fascism, Communism, and Nazism

Nazism

Heavily nationalistic, fascist, and totalitarian group that believes in the superior race of the Aryan, and that all Germans should have a Lebensraum. They also support Anti- semitism

Fascism

A heavily nationalistic and elitist state of heavy totalitarian control in which the state interests are more important than individual interests there is more private ownership.

Communism

A Left wing Idea that proposes a classless society the idea was made by Karl Marx. Soviet Communism or "Stalinism" was a totalitarian military state with elements of communism mixed in.

The Holocaust

The Largest Mass extermination/Genocide in History

Due to the Nuremberg Laws, Jews, disabled people, and Others that Hitler despised were stripped of their rights and eventually moved to Concentration camps

The 4 steps to this Genocide were:
Stripping of rights
Segregation
concentration
Extermination

The victims were killed with a toxic gas known as Zyklon B and were then cremated.

America Joins The War

The US and China had a very strong relationship building up. Japan wanted to take over China and was worried that the US would support them so they decided to attack Pearl Harbor a naval base in Hawaii. This battle crippled the US, but soon after the attack, The United States declared war on Japan

Blitzkrieg

The Germans had a very fast and unpredictable form of combat in the start of the war. When Germany invaded Poland, they used this technique to make swift work of the country.

The Atomic Bombings

This Attack Marked the Final surrender of the war (japan)

The first attack was on the city of Hiroshima. The Bomb was called the "little boy" and killed 140,000 people

The second attack was on the town Nagasaki. The bomb was called the "Fat Man" and killed around 74,000 people

D-day

This was the battle that marked Germany's surrender from the war

the attack was very well planned. They set a false attack previously so that the second time they would deceive the opposition

On the beaches of Normandy, The Allies Took this battle in order to push back the Italians and Germans to gain a foothold of mainland Europe

Internment Camps

People that were seen as enemy aliens to a country, during the time of ww2, were forced out of their homes and put into concentration camps.

After the attack on pearl harbor, many people in Canada felt unsafe with the large population of Japanese Canadians in BC.

Due to the war measures act, The Japanese Canadians were given the option to be deported to Japan or to be moved east of the Rockies.

Appeasement

Appeasement was the act of giving in to ones demands to avoid conflict.

this tactic was used heavily by the British and French post WW1

The most famous case of appeasement was when British leader Neville Chamberlain had appeased to Hitler's demand to invade Cechoslovakia

This was thought to be the cause of WW2
