We can find academic words in the dictionarie, and we will see that many of them belong to word famiies such as the ones below

The Paragraph

Is a group of sentences about a single topic.A paragrahp has two parts:

•topic sentences
•supporting sentences

Topic sentence
The topic sentences gives the main idea and it tells the reader what kind of information to look in the rest of the sentence

Supporting Point

Is an individual idea or separate step in
a process.It is easy to see which
sentences give a supporting point because
the writer used transitions
(first,second,etc) to mark the supporting
points

The supprting sentences develop the
idea or ideas in the topic sentences,
the supporting sentences will tell the steps you took to reach your goal

To help readers recognize the steps in your paragrahp,we can use the transitions and time expressions.
