Who uses plastic?
Humans use plastic. We have been using it for thousands of years. Although, since world war two, the mass production of plastic has gotten much worse.
Where does plastic come from?
Plastic comes from people. We dig up crude oil and natural gas, that's then turned into ethane and propane. The ethane and propane then get turned into ethylene and propylene. Then those are linked together to create resin, which allows plastic to be molded and shaped. Then there's a few more steps and BOOM you have yourself some plastic.
Why do we use plastic?
Plastic has become readily available for any use. You can make water bottles, toys, bags and a lot more. We use plastic because it's just easy to use. It's everywhere.
What is plastic?
Plastics are made of long chains of polymers. Polymers are flexible chains of chemical compounds, which makes the plastic easy to mold and manipulate.
When did we start using plastic?
We started using man made plastics in the 19th century, but before that we used plastic from a plant. The earliest use of plastic was from around 3500 years ago, with natural plastic from a tree being used.
