In The Hate U Give, Starr saw it as her responsibility to call out systematic racism that caused her friend to die. She succeeds at this because when she speaks out, people around here gain confidence and start to use their voice as well. Protests break out and people don't hesitate to fight for what's right, all thanks to Starr.

In invictus, Nelson Mandela had a responsibility to challenge the apartheid system to bring equality for all. He believes that the people need and depend on him and that it's his job to face the injustices in the system He succeeds in the end and is looked up as a hero by the world.
In The Hate U Give, Starr's father, Big Mav, had a responsibility to protect his family from all threats around them. He saw himself as the man of the house and told himself that he needs to do whatever he could to keep them safe, they even moved out of Garden Heights just to protect them. He stayed behind the day the gunshots came because he cared about them and wanted to keep them safe at all costs. In the end, he does a great job at this and succeeded in meeting his responsibility.
