Who?
Generals: King Harold II of England and Duke William of Normandy.
Armies: The Norman, Breton, Burgundian, Flemish and the French army of Duke William of Normandy against the Saxon army of King Harold of England.

Negatives
1.He destroyed the countyside as well as many villages.
2. He replaced villagers with their own castles.
3. He killed Harold, who was their king.
4. He killed millions of people, for no apparent reasons sometimes.
5. He would kill the innocent just as easily as the guilty.

1. He gave work to the peasants.
2. He (eventually) brought peace to the land .
3. He brought infrastructure and architecture (castles that still stand today).
4. He brought out the feudal system (negative and positive).
5. He made the country safer as well as bring religion and churches/cathedrals to the land.

When?
The 14th October 1066. From 9am to 3pm.
What?
He Normans invaded England by boat then set up camp. Harold's army marched from the North to the south coast and were exhausted. When the battle started Harold's war fatigued army were at a strong point on the hill. William tricked Harold's army by pretending to run away . When Harold's army chased them down the hill William's army turned around and cut them down.
Where?
Sussex Coast of England.

Why?
Duke William of Normandy and King Harold II were fighting for the English throne. William thought that both Harold and Eward had promised him the thrown then betrayed him.
