Classical Leadership Styles - Mind Map

Classical Leadership Styles

Autocratic style leadership.

A management style in which a single person has complete decision-making authority and absolute control over his employees.
This leadership style is exhibited when a leader prescribes policies and procedures, determines what goals must be met, and commands and controls all activities with little meaningful input from subordinates.

Example: Adolf Hitler

Laissez-faire style leadership.

Leaders that are laissez faire have a trusting and reliant attitude toward their personnel. They do not micromanage or become overly engaged, and they do not provide excessive instruction or direction. Laissez-faire leaders, on the other hand, allow their staff to utilise their creativity, resources, and expertise to assist them reach their objectives.

Ex: When a homeowner is permitted to grow anything they want in their front yard without seeking permission from the city.

Democratic style leadership.

Democratic leadership, also known as participatory leadership or shared leadership, is a type of leadership in which members of the group participate in decision-making. This form of leadership may be used to any organisation, from a private corporation to a school or the government.

Ex: Nelson Mandela
