Defining Science

Scientific Doubt and Skepticism

Falsification:
A statement, hypothesis, or theory has falsifiability if it is contradicted by a basic statement. Falsifiability is the capacity for some proposition, statement, theory or hypothesis to be proven wrong.

Scientific doubt and skepticism are connected to falsification. This is because with these actions science is being questioned and worked to be proven otherwise, which is was falsification is.

Science, Philosophy, or Religion?:
Religion...

would be the most related to these concepts because doubts against science can usually be drawn back to religion and beliefs. This is because a higher power the belief that they created the world often clashes with the beliefs of science and events such as the big bang.

Whose ‘truth’ is represented here?:
Religious/Cultural

The truths that are represented here would be cultural and religious. This is because peoples cultures and also their faith and beliefs would cause them to question the truths of science and become skeptical.

Ideological Preconceptions versus Truth

Empiricism:
a theory that states that knowledge comes only or primarily from sensory experience.

Ideological Preconceptions and Truth relate to empiricism. This is because an ideological perception is something you think of beforehand and truth is something that is known and proven.

Science, Philosophy, or Religion?:
Religion/Science...

would be the most related to this concept because most peoples truths and beliefs come from their belief in either religion or in science.

Whose ‘truth’ is represented here?:
Religious/Scientific

The truths that are represented here would be both religious and scientific. This is because these concepts can connect to both truths but it really depends on the individual.

Evolution versus Intelligent Design

Paradigm Shifts:
a fundamental change in the basic concepts and experimental practices of a scientific discipline.

Intelligent design and the new ideas and conceptions humans are forming are causing paradigm shifts. Paradigm shifts are destined to happen in the world just like evolution is as well.

Science, Philosophy, or Religion?:
Science...

would be the most related to this concept because Evolution is purely scientific. Intelligent design and the creations made by humans are also mostly formed by scientific theories and designs.

Whose ‘truth’ is represented here?:
Scientific

Scientific truth would be most likely represented here because both of these concepts I believe to be caused by science.

How Do We Know What We Know?

Epistemology:
the theory of knowledge. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion.

Epistemology is the base of what we know. So many other theories of knowledge stream fro the concept of epistemology and allow us to know what we know today.

Science, Philosophy, or Religion?:
Philosophy...

would be most connected to this concept because Epistemology and knowledge are explained and proven by forms of philosophy and philosophers.

Whose ‘truth’ is represented here?:
Scientific/Cultural/Religious

I feel that all three of these truths can be represented in this concept. This is because different people can interpret 'How we know what we know'. None of these things are truly right, it is about personal perception and belief. For me personally, I think we know what we know mostly from science.
