Hitler: Rise of Evil

Birth, 1889

Adolf Hitler is born in a Austrian town, Braunau in a border between Austria and Germany.

Hitler's younger years, 1903 - 1907

Hitler’s father was demanding and abusive towards Hitler. Hewanted him to excel academically and then become a bureaucrat like he had been. His father died of a heart attack when Hitler was 13 years old. Hitler craved to move to Vienna to become an artist, so when he was 18 moved to live and study fine art in Vienna, financed by orphan’s benefits and support from his mother. Hitler fails the entrance examination of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. Hitler’s mother dies because of breast cancer. He retries the examination, and then failed for the second time because they didn’t look for paintings of places, they preferred paintings of people.

Hitler's early adult years, 1908-1919

Hitler lives the life of a vagabond in Vienna, painting postcard scenes of the city to earn a meager living. Later, society around him told him reasons of why jews are evil. Hitler continued on living in the streets believing that the jews were to blame, and lived in an orphanage for a while along with hopeless and sad people. He met his step-sister for the last time. Hitler departed from Austria. His 24th birthday, Hitler receives his inheritance from his father’s estate. He moves shortly afterward to Munich, Germany. After arriving, Hitler listened to a person making a big speech about triumph and war. Hitler cheers the news that the First World War has begun, and days later he enlists in the German army. Hitler joined the army and was ranked private. Before a bomb raid he beated up a dog when it would not sit on command. The dog died in a bomb raid. He was one of the only survivor of a sudden bomb attack. To that, he was promoted to corporal. He then became a runner to send a message, on the way of sending a message. As a frontline runner in the German army he received the Iron Cross for bravery. Hitler is briefly blinded during a mustard-gas attack. Hitler received minor injuries during a gas attack, his eyes were burned but he didn’t lose his sight. Kaiser Wilhelm, the ruler of Germany, abdicates and the German Empire comes to an end. Hearing those words was distasteful by Hitler, and he went ahead on a rage. Captain Ernst Rohm, reclaimed the city after a two week communist rule. Hitler made his first speech in a small group about the Jews.

1920-1930

Hitler continue on to make speeches, and soon his fans were larger and he gained a lot of followers. Hitler made his next speech in Hofbrauhaus beer hall who catch the attention of Ernst Hanfstaengl who will support Hitler. Hitler then made a group with a symbol of swastika, and shave his mustache. Hitler became the Fuhrer of the Nationalist Socialist party. from 1921-1922, Rudolf Hess, Ernst and Helene Hanfstaengl, and Hermann Göringjoin Hitler’s inner political and social circle. All four were drawn to Hitler’s charismatic personality. Von Kahr has sent a message to Hitler, to stop making speeches, because it was believed that it has made troubles. The Nazi party was then attacked in 4am, and was stopped by Kahr. As a psycho he is, he almost attempted suicide because of failure. He then was arrested. After released from prison Hitler perform brilliant speeches that impressed the judge and the crowd. Though he was guilty of high treason and was imprisoned for 5 years, but he only ended up serving 9 months. March - November, 1924, 1924—While in prison, Hitler begins work on his book Mein Kampf (My Struggle), which is part autobiography, part political testament. In it, he details his irrational hatred of the Jews and spells out Germany’s need for more territory. Hitler is released from prison and returns to Munich. Hitler resumes leadership of the Nazi Party and says that its new policy will be to win elections, not attempt another treason. At summer, Mein Kampf is published and attracts many new members to the Nazi Party. Spring, Hitler rents a country house in the Bavarian Alps and hires his half-sister, Angela Raubal, to manage it. He starts liking Angela’s twenty-year-old daughter, Geli. Hitler's half-niece. The New York Stock Exchange (Wall Street)crashes, setting off a worldwide depression. Germany, still burdened by its debts from the First World War, is hit especially hard. That same month, Hitler meets Eva Braun, a young assistant of his favor. As Germany suffers from the Great Depression, the Nazismake major gains in an election for seats in the Reichstag, the nation’s parliament. 1931-1934

Geli Raubal is found dead in Hitler’s Munich apartment. Hitler runs for president of Germany against the incumbent, Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg. Hitler loses, but has more than a third of the vote, making him a figure to contend with on the German political scene.The Nazis win more seats in the Reichstag than any other party. Hitler demands that he be named chancellor, the second most powerful position in the government. Hitler is sworn in as chancellor after President Hindenburg gives in to heavy pressure from Franz von Papen and other influential figures. The Reichstag building goes up in flames. A young Dutch Communist is accused of setting the fire. The Nazi-controlled Reichstag grants Hitler emergency powers to protect the nation from a presumed Communist uprising. (The Reichstag Fire Decree of 1933 temporarily suspended individual’s freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and it gave the Government power to take any actions to restore order.) Hitler successfully got the Enabling Act passed by the Reichstag to give him power as dictatorial Chancellor for 4 years unchecked even by the president. June 30-July 1, Hitler purges many of his rivals and enemies, and also a number of his longtime colleagues, including Ernst Röhm. This systematic slaughter is often called “The Night of the Long Knives.” President Hindenburg dies. The offices of president and chancellor are combined, and Adolf Hitler assumes both positions. Now he is the undisputed ruler of Germany and can embark on the evil course he first laid out in Mein Kampf: to remove the Jews from Europe.
