Life in the Trenches

the rats that infested the trenches were black and brown
rats. They would eat the body's of dead humans and that would make them grow in size. The rats would then walk across there faces in there sleep and would just be over all pests. ^

the tranches would smell like rotting corpses
and would most of the time smell horrendous. it would also smell as of chemicals that would help clean the wounds of the soldiers like creosol or chloride. it would also smell like gas and the stench of the men would smell as well because they would not have baths in days if not weeks.

No man's land was the land that was still unclaimed meaning if you went up by yourself where there was a good chance you would not make it back. if you went out with other people then only a few would make it back.

Life in the trench was hard because the sleeping conditions were 2-5 hours and they weren't sleeping comfortably. It was also hard because trench foot was getting worse and they only had a thin layer on. They also got plenty of food so there was a problem with rats and rats getting into the food.
