I understand that there we are in a pandemic and homeless people are probably one of the most at risk, therefore the government is providing shelters for them so they could stay safe. But if there are cases of the virus going on in those shelters, I don't believe that it's right that the government is forcing them to go.
The main reason the government put 1300 in the shelter is for them to be "safe", but instead, they are anything but safe. So if they feel more comfortable living in their tents rather than a shelter, the government should respect that and let them be.
Everyone should be aware of what happens in their community. If there was no awareness about what's happening to the homeless in Toronto. More powerful/successful people would abuse the homeless in any way. At the end of the day, you should always be aware of what's going on in your community.
A really good way to stay up to date on what goes on in your environment is firstly watching the news and listen to the radio, read newspapers, stay active on social media and if you want to know more about what goes on in your environment, read articles.
Cases of COVID-19 were rising when the government was forcing homeless people to go to shelters.
