Mining is essential to life because we use the materials to make objects.
Claim/Evidence - Most of Earth's buildings and items are made from rocks and minerals. If we did not mine for rocks and minerals than there would be many things humans would not have to survive such as strong buildings, plates and silverware, lights, and much more.
Connection - Mining is essential to life like cutting down trees are essential to schools. You can use trees many different ways to help a school. The wood can be used for shelves and desks chairs while the paper can be used for books, notebooks, and homework. Mining is the same way. You can get many different materials while mining that can make many different things. Without mining it would be very hard to live with the limited resources. Just like it would be very hard to have a school without tree resources.

Humans affect earth's system positively and negatively.
Claim/Evidence - Humans do many things to affect Earth's systems. We can help it by doing things to clean the planet and also keep each system together. Humans can also hurt the Earth's systems by littering, releasing too much carbon into the atmosphere, and pollution.
Connection - The Earth's systems are like a group of friends. Humans can either disrupt the systems or they can make them better. Just like in a friendship you can make each other better but sometimes the friends can do things to make each other worse. The friends depend on each other but sometimes other people can cause the friends to hurt each other instead of help each other.

The Earth has changed over time by forming continents and creating new life.
Claim/Evidence - The Earth has changed by tectonic plates moving around to form continents and then the Earth formed new life on those continents.
Connection - The Earth changing reminds me of an NFL football team. The Earth is always changing and adding new things. Like Earth, an NFL team changes a lot too. It is always adding new players or getting new coaching staff, sometimes even going to a new location or upgrading parts of the stadium. Earth is always making changes such as shifting continents, making new life, and changing places. Sometimes the Earth changes with unexpected disasters. An NFL team can have unexpected disasters too, such as an injury to a player.

The earth's place in the universe is to hold all life as we know it.
Claim/Evidence - As far as we know, Earth is the only planet with Life and that is why NASA sent out the voyagers, to find out if there is more life past our Universe.
Connection - The Earth is like a fish tank. The fish can survive when they are in the water but not outside of it. The fish tank holds the life of the fish and other aquatic plants. Fish would not be able to live outside of their tank just like humans cannot live outside of Earth.
