In the Cyclops Cave

In the Cyclops Cave

The cyclop cursed Odysseus and
his men. For this reason, they spent ten long years buffeted by the cruel seas before he reached his home land.

To go out of the cave, Odysseus and
his men were clinging upside down
between the sheep.

Odysseus drunks the Cyclop and
said to him that his name was
Nobody. When the cyclop was sound
asleep Odysseus and his men pick up a
great stick and they drove it into the one and only eye of the Cyclops. When the other cyclops went to see what was wrong, the cyclop said tha NOBODY hurts him. The other cyclops didn't understand him.

During the night... Ulisses was
thinking a way to avenge the cyclop.

Instead of replying, the Cyclops went to the door of the cave and rolled a great stone into the opening so that the exit was blocked. The cyclop said to Odysseu that he didn't have to abide the laws of Zeus... I'm protégé by my father, Poseidon! After say that, he ate two of the men of Odysseus.

Odysseus explained to him that
that they were Greeks who were in
their way back from the glorious
war in Troy. Lord Zeus, the king
of all the gods was their protector,
and according to his laws, the Cyclop
must treat them kindly, provide them
with gifts, and send them safely on our way.”

Penelope is waiting
for Odysseus, who
is coming back from
Troy, the city that
Greeks destroyed.

Odysseus was famous
all over the world for his
quick mind and his cunning
tricks. It was Odysseus who
had come up with the idea of
the wooden horse, which led
to the destruction of Troy.

But despite all his resourcefulness,
he made slow progress home, for
Poseidon the god of the seas
was angry with him. The sea god
sent howling winds to blow Odysseus
off his course, and fierce storms
to buffet his ships.

One evening they landed on a
small island. They discovered a
vast cave. Inside they found lambs and goat kids living in pens, and on the
ground were piles of round cheeses and barrels full of milk. Odysseus
commanded to his men to sit down and wait for the owner of the cave.

Towards sunset, they heard the tinkling of sheep bells, and they knew that the owner of the cave was driving his flocks back home. A giant entered in the cave... He had one eye in the middle of his forehead... it was a cyclop!

The Cyclops was astonished to
find a band of men making
themselves comfy in his cave
and eating his cheese.
