DEFINITION

Oppenheim - ‘dictatorial interference by a state in the affairs of another state for the purpose of maintaining or altering the actual condition of things

Forcible or dictatorial interference by a state in the affairs of another state, calculated to impose certain conduct or consequences on that another state’

EXAMPLE

Russia, France and Germany had a joint action against Japan to return Chineese territory. Consequently Japan return the territory to china (Shimonoseki).
