Learning Across the Curriculum

The Heads and Tails Game.
Appropriate for Early Stage 1 and above.
Drama (using your body as a metaphor).
Game consists of children choosing between Heads and Tails on the toss of a coin, by putting their hands on their heads or on their hips/tails. Those that pick correct continue and those that are wrong help judge. After the game a conversation can then discuss the chances of correctly guessing the toss of a coin (Probability).

Measurement & Geometry

Math-Centric

Measurement and Estimation of Length and Distance.
Stage 1 and above.
Have students estimate the lengths of different objects/locations within the school (i.e. basketball court, lunch table, cricket pitch, etc.). Have each student record their estimations in their maths book. Then leave the classroom with trundle wheels (they click for every meter) and have students pair with a friend and measure the lengths of each location to compare with their estimations. This works as a Think Pair Share, with students thinking on their own for estimation, before pairing with a friend for measurement, and then finally sharing their results with the class.

Learning Across the Curriculum

Physics / Music
Stage 6.

Making and Comparing Shapes
Drama, Stage 2 and above
Sorting Students into groups, appoint each group an item/shape to create using their bodies (i.e. ship, fruit bowl, etc.). Visual Arts can also be incorporated if you ask the students to draw what they did as a lesson conclusion/summary.
