Research Methods - Mind Map

Research Methods

Qualitative

Is an exploratory and social research to collect information.

It is used to understand reasons, opinions, and motivations.

The qualitative methods are group discussions, individual interviews, and participation/observations.

This research method does not use numerical results.

Quantitative

A quantitative research is used to quantify the problem by getting data with numbers that can be transformed into usable statistics.

It is used to quantify attitudes, opinions, behaviors, and some other variables and from that we can generalize results from a larger sample population.

Quantitative methods include online surveys, paper surveys, mobile surveys and kiosk surveys, face-to-face interviews, telephone interviews, longitudinal studies, website interceptors, online polls, and systematic observations.

Mixed

Mixed methods research is a methodology for conducting research that involves collecting, analyzing and integrating quantitative and qualitative research.

In the mixed research method we could use various designs, for example sequential explanatory design, concurrent triangulation or concurrent nested.

The mixed method is used when this integration provides a better understanding of the research problem than either of each alone.
