PC Mind Map

Notebook

Advantages

One of the more obvious pros is the fact that the Notebook is fully mobile and is perfect for office work on the go. Furthermore, everything is there no need to by a keyboard, mouse, or any monitor. It is all present within the given product. Also it is batter powered so it can be used for a given amount of time away from the power outlet.

Disadvantages

To start most Notebooks come with lacking processing power. Due to Notebooks sole purpose for generally computing/office work. Thing's like simulation running, rendering of art/animation, and graphic processes are not something you should expect from a notebook. Lastly, the cost is something to account for when it comes to buying a notebook. Now it all comes down to age of the model but generally you would want something a bit newer to keep up with the computing task for the modern era. From that prices can range from 300-1000+ dollars.

Characteristics

Generally smaller in size even when compared to a laptop. Of course having things like a motherboard, Embedded CPU, keyboard, and for some form of input it's usually a touchpad. While at first glance this is very similar to laptops one key difference can usually be what OS is running on the notebook. Which is usually some form of Microsoft's Windows. Furthermore, one of the chrome books crown staples is how it is battery powered which means it can be moved all throughout your life. Weather that be work, home, or even while on vacation.

Laptop

Advantages

Of course like the Notebook the pros include. All-in-one design of laptop so no need for an external monitor, keyboard, or mouse. Again for the built-in battery which means the laptop can be used away from a desk space.

Disadvantages

But one thing that is a major con is the noticeably higher price for a laptop when compared to a notebook or even desktop. Specifically with Macs these prices can easily go over 1000 dollars USD. Due to its decreased size it can also be limited in terms of performance.

Characteristics

Very similar to the notebook in many ways. Providing the mobility, battery powered, and all-in-one design. In terms of appearance is near identical to the Notebook. Being a foldable computer in the shape of a rectangle. With one portion housing the screen and the bottom portion usually holding the keyboard and mouse.

Desktop

Advantages

Besides being completely stationary desktops come with a slew of pros. First off desktop due to there increase size and higher power consumption are able to be equipped with far better hardware for higher processing power if need be. Next, the modding of the computer is much easier when compared to embedded hardware in laptops and notebooks. Making it so you can upgrade parts and swap as you please.

Disadvantages

Major disadvantage is firstly that is desktops are completely immobile and locked to a desk area. Furthermore, the cost for desktop PCs are generally higher than both laptops and Notebooks.

Characteristics

Now when it comes to desktops they can vary VASTLY in terms of look and overall characteristics. So I will mostly go over the tower and monitor based desktop. When it comes to appearance when receiving your desktop it does not come with everything you'll need to get started. It is called desktop because they are usually station on a desk and is plugged up with various cables so it can receive user input. That being power supply, monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Due to there much large size desktops usually carry more resources. Weather that be higher processing power, higher ram count, or a better ability to process graphics.
