When Europeans came to St.Lawrence the First Nations were affected all the way to the great lakes.The Iroquoian

fisherman were always finding new places to fish to go on the market. They were also trying to find better fish to eat. jake

ENVIRONMENT

The Siksika lived on the land mainly as they found it. By Yarden

In the northern forest the easiest way to travel was on foot or in water, in the summer people eitheir walked or travelled by canoe.In winter they wore snowshoes to stay on top of the snow - Dace

the first nation people used the canoe in the summer to get around and they would wear snowshoes in the winter. Luke

The sweat lodge is a scared place for communal prayer used during religious ceremonies and curing rites. Stones are heated and rolled into the lodge where the wendat sing and pray to the spirit world. after each prayer, water is poured onto the stones, creating an intense heat and steam which cleanses the body and purifies the soul. children and men wore as little as possible in cooler weather they wore two peices of leather attached to a thong around their waist-Elyse

in summer women wore dresses made of animal skin. -Sophie

During the warm months women and girls wore dresses and moccasins made from animal skin also knee length leggings. Men and boys however breechcloths shirts and moccasins during the warm months. Luke

The Siksika wore clothing made of deer or buffalo skin - Dace

back then first nations did not have clothing like us so as cloths and acceserys were made of animal such as buffalo- Sophie

Deerskin was used the most to make shoes .They cleaned the deerskin then taned it the women did it all. When they did that it made the skin soft and strong so it wouid not not fall apart pieces were stiched together with stips of leather. by cali-Rae

The Siksika tribe used every part of the buffalo when killed to prevent waste. Luke

The wendat lived in villages that have fields.The crops they grew used up all the nutrients from the soil.That means less food. then they have to move to another location.They create a new field every 10-15 years.Most of farming would be done by woman. woodland cree are the main hunters to colect food.They hunt moose,woodland caribou,deer and bear because small animals could not feed a big family.If they wanted to feed a small amount of people they would hunt small animals like ducks,geese,rabbits and fish. by Sienna

Land was cleared for fields by men.The men cleared the fields by cutting down trees and then burning there stumps.After that women planted the tree roots.When its spring women loosen the soil then make holes with bone tipped hoes.Last they made a prayer of thanks then planted the seeds. by Sienna
