Copernicus

Published his book in the year of his death(1543)

First to mention that the universe was heliocentric

Ptolemy

Believed that the whole universe is made of 8 shells with no room or space in between

Musical theory and ancient astrological ideas still played an important role in describing a complete cosmology

Because observation was being supported by a mathematical system and the two methods helped to verify one another

Depended on actual observations and rational thinking to form an explanation of the universe

Developed what is now known as Physics
