Tobacco companies may also see a decrease in sales and customer base.

With the increase of purchasing age, there will be a decrease in sales thus meaning less taxes being earned.

Change Social Norms

Raising the age to 21 will hopefully break the trend of smokers becoming addicted by/before the age of 18.

By making cigarettes taboo, it will hopefully bring a negative connotation towards cigarettes.

Improving Overall Public Health

Less people will become addicted to tobacco or nicotine.

It will be harder for minors to obtain cigarettes and other nicotine products.
