this shows the japanese took full control of singapore during the occupation and they were very strict about it. they only allowed the locals to watch and listen to japanese stuff and even made them learn japanese.

it changed by leisure and entertainment as the locals did not have freedom to watch other language films.

People lived in fear and were in hunger

Lee lived in constant fear and always did not have enough to eat.
