What did the big three want?

Clemenceau,France

wanted to cripple Germany so there will never be able to attack France again

Germany's border to be pushed back so France is less open to attack

Wanted money from Germany to pay to fix damages caused by the war

wanted a dramatic decrease in their armed forces

Most fighting happened on French soil and left the biggest impact e.g most damage to country and most deaths

Ensure Britain's empire

Gain German colonies

Suppress Germany's Navy

Wanted to keep Germany's economy strong so they can trade

This would stop other counties in Europe from getting strong

But L.G was cautious and didn't want to punish them too harshly as the Germans would eventually want revenge

The Brits wanted to make Germany pay as many British men died in the war

Wilson was an idealist

Proposed the idea of the League

- Countries could work and trade(make war less likely) -self-determination - freedom of the seas (sail trading ships wherever they wished) -The fourteen points
