Sometimes it can contaminate food which is then consumed and can lead to cancer and other health effects

-Mass production of insect pests. -They are sterilized with gamma radiation emitted by radioisotopes. -Males are let out to mate with the non-sterilized female insects. -The insects do not give offspring which leads to a decrease in the population.

The most responsible way to use this energy is by letting the male sterilized insects out at the same time over a large area. This way more area is covered and the harmful insects are eliminated while there are still beneficial insects.
