Keep parents informed. Use a bilingual translator to outline classroom expectations, standards, curriculum and to answer any questions they may have.

Translate written communication that is sent home.

Put parents in contact with bilingual staff This creates a bridge of communication and helps create a sense of support and community.

Creating Multilingual displays and signs.

The use of group work. Working with same-language partners.

Embedding multicultural education throughout the curriculum to promote engagement and cultural diversity.

Eases Integration into Ontario classrooms and promotes the development of self-efficacy.

Provides a passageway for students into their prior knowledge and learning which they might not otherwise have been able to access.
