โดยแต่ละช่วงเวลาแบ่งเป็น 4 แบบและมีโครงสร้างประโยค รวมถึงหลักการใช้ที่แตกต่างกันดังนี้ Past Tenses ใช้เล่าถึงเหตุการณ์ในอดีต มี 4 แบบ คือ

Future Tenses ใช้เล่าเหตุการณ์ที่จะเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต มี 4 แบบ คือ

Future Perfect Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : for, by, the time

โครงสร้าง : S + will have + been + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้เล่าถึงเหตุการณ์ในอนาคตที่จะได้ทำไปแล้วเป็นระยะเวลาหนึ่งและกำลังทำอยู่

Future Perfect Tense

ข้อสังเกต : by the end of this year, by this time tomorrow, in….years time, in…(month)…next year

โครงสร้าง : S + will + have + V3

หลักการใช้ : ใช้เล่าถึงเหตุการณ์ที่จะทำเสร็จสมบูรณ์ ณ เวลาหนึ่งในอนาคต

Future Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : at…(time)…tomorrow, at this time tomorrow

โครงสร้าง : S + will + be + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในอนาคต

Future Simple Tense

ข้อสังเกต : tomorrow, next week/month/year, soon

โครงสร้าง : S + will + V1

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นทั่วไปในอนาคต

Present Tenses ใช้เล่าถึงเหตุการณ์ในปัจจุบัน มี 4 แบบ คือ

Present Perfect Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : for an hour, for a week, for a long time, for….years, all day, all morning, since, how long

โครงสร้าง : S + have/has + been + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นเรื่อย ๆ ตั้งแต่อดีตจนถึงปัจจุบัน

Present Perfect Tense

ข้อสังเกต : since, for, just, yet, already, never, ever

โครงสร้าง : S + have/has + V3

หลักการใช้ : เล่าเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดในอดีตและดำเนินมาถึงปัจจุบัน หรือส่งผลถึงปัจจุบัน

Present Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : now, right now, at this moment, at the moment, at present

โครงสร้าง : S + V. to be + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบัน

Present Simple Tense

ข้อสังเกต : always, usually, often, never, today, nowadays, every + day/month/year, normally, habitually, naturally

โครงสร้าง : S + V1 (s, es)

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดในปัจจุบัน, ทำเป็นประจำ, เป็นจริงทางวิทยาศาสตร์

Past Tenses ใช้เล่าถึงเหตุการณ์ในอดีต มี 4 แบบ คือ

Past Perfect Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : for, since, how long, before, after

โครงสร้าง : S + had + been + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้อธิบายเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดอย่างต่อเนื่องและเกิดขึ้นก่อนอีกเหตุการณ์หนึ่งในอดีต

Past Perfect Tense

ข้อสังเกต : by the time, before, after, when, before last week, by….o’clock yesterday และที่สำคัญ Past Perfect จะใช้คู่กับ Past Simple เสมอ

โครงสร้าง : S + had + V3

หลักการใช้ : ใช้อธิบายเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นก่อนหน้าเหตุการณ์ในอดีตเหตุการณ์หนึ่ง

Past Continuous Tense

ข้อสังเกต : at this time yesterday, at that moment, at this time in the past

โครงสร้าง : S + was/were + V.ing

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่กำลังเกิดขึ้นในอดีต

Past Simple Tense

ข้อสังเกต : yesterday, in the past, last + day/month/year, in + ช่วงเวลาในอดีต เช่น in 1989

โครงสร้าง : S + V2

หลักการใช้ : ใช้กับเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นแล้วและจบแล้วในอดีต

Tense คือ การเปลี่ยนรูปของคำกริยา เพื่อแสดงช่วงเวลาต่าง ๆ ในประโยคภาษาอังกฤษ ใช้บอกว่าเหตุการณ์นั้นอยู่ในช่วงใด แบ่งเป็น 3 ช่วงเวลา คือ

Future = อนาคต

Present = ปัจจุบัน

Past = อดีต
