Algebraic Reasoning, Graphing and Geometric Connections

Math Master to the rescue! Resources: Algebraic Reasoning, Graphing, Geometric Connections

Geometry

Rigid Motions

The use of rigid motions to solve geometric problem is based on moving a figure to another position without changing it's geometric properties but in which the solution becomes easier to see

Circle

A circle is a set of all points in the plane that are at a fixed distance from their center

-Center: The given point on a circle

-Radius: Fixed distance from center to any point on the circle

Triangles

Altitude of a triangle is the line through the vertex of a triangle that is perpendicular to the line containing the opposite side of the triangle

Lines

Parallel lines are lines L and M, which lie in a cartesian plane, if they have no points in common or they are equal

Perpendicular lines are lines L1 and L2 if they intersect at 90 degrees
-condition for perpendicularity when M1 and M2 slopes are negative reciprocals

Algebra

Solution

A solution set is a set of all values in domain of variables that satisfy the given equation

Equation

An equation is a mathematical expression that shows two expressions to have the same value or be equal

Expression

An algebraic expression is a representation that involves variables, numbers and operation symbols

Function

A function, in a set, is a rule that associates with each element XED precisely one value y

Graphing

Polynomials

A polynomial is any function in which fixed positive real numbers is raised to a variable power

Quadratics

A polynomial of degree 2

Slope

The slope is the change in distance in x coordinates and y coordinates on a given line

Point-slope formula: For an equation of a line P (x1,y1) and slope M, then y-y1=m(x-x1)

Slope intercept from: y=mx+b, where m=slope and b=y intercept

Cartesian Plane

The graph of a function with the form of a line whose slope is M on the axes (x,y)
Cartesian coordinates are the points (x.y) on a cartesian plane
