Michelle Obama was named the 2008 Woman of the Year by Time Magazine.

As First Lady

Michelle began the “Reach Higher” foundation, inspiring young people to strive for higher education.

Michelle began the “Let’s Move” initiative to battle childhood obesity in the U.s.

Michelle began the “Let Girls Learn” campaign helping adolescent girls attain higher education in third world countries while challenging sexism.

Prior To Becoming First Lady

In 1991, Michelle worked as the assistant of the governor of Chicago.

Michelle earned a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in 1985, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Harvard Law School in 1988.

In 2005, she was appointed as the Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Michelle played a key role in her husband’s campaign for president of the United States.
