The Truth and Reconciliation Commission was one of the biggest points for the Indigenous community. Murray Sinclair was the chair and founder of the commission from 2008 to 2015. The main goal of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was to give individuals who were affected either directly or indirectly by the history of Indigenous peoples. This includes Residential Schools, The Indian Act, or any other form of discrimination. The commission gave a chance for Indigenous peoples to share their issues, struggles, and experiences. The commission was funded June 2nd, 2008. The commission ran for 7 years and came to an end in December 2015. The last release was a final report thats stated the Residential School system was cultural genocide.
