Who were they

Mix of Asian and European

Reasons for coming to Singapore

Their families followed the Europeans to Singapore

Singapore was becoming more prosporous

Wanted fresh opportunities to make lots of money by spice trades

Their Contributions to Singapore

They were of great help and value since they were familiar with the government processes.

They continued to support and work for the new local government after the British left Singapore

Some Eurasians became political leaders

Singapore's 2nd President Benjamin Sheares was Eurasian

They served in volunteer groups in civil defense

They helped to fight in the war during World War 2
