what is Roman army :

The Roman army was the largest fighting force in the ancient world. It conquered a huge empire that stretched from Britain all the way to the Middle East. The soldiers were the best trained, they had the best weapons and the best armour.

It was divided up into groups called 'legions' . Each legion had between 4,000 and 6,000 soldiers . A legion was further divided into groups of 80 me called 'centuries' .

These were chosen from former consuls and were resposible for tax collection , revising members of the sanate and making state contracts for public works .

Quatores :

Each year 20 financial administrators were chosen .

praetores :

These were the most senior officials .

Consuls :

These were the most senior official .

The senate governed Rome :

It 100 members , this later grew 600 by 82 BC .
