The basis of probabilistic statements:the normal distribution

Theory: Theoretical idea of drawing repeated samples of the same size from the same population.

The values found from the sample will fall within a certain range either side of the true population value--hence the idea of confidence intervals.

The theory related to the bell-shaped normal distribution which would result if repeated samples were drawn and the values of a statistic plotted.
