LINE

Types of lines

broken

line that are short but are continuous

zigzag

lines that are diagonal but has alternate shape angels

spiral

lines that start with a center point and gradually move away

wavy

lines that change direction gradually

curved

lines that create movement

diagonal

lines that run slanted

vertical

lines that run up and down

horizontal

lines that run from the left to right

A mark made on a surface that can indicate the edge of a shape or form

The areas around, between, and within objects

also known as negatives and positives, the empty areas

FORM

Can refer to three-dimensionality, or the physical nature of a work of art

SHAPE

A flat area of enclosed space

squares, circles, triangles etc

COLOR

Created when light reflects off of an object or scene

all colors on the color wheel

TEXTURE

How something feels when touched, or the illusion of texture created with line and pattern

bumpy. smooth, spotty

VALUE

the lightness or darkness of a color, ranging from the lightest shade (white) to the darkest shade (black)
