LETTERS

There are different types of formal letters. For example: -Letters of enquiry -Order letters -Letters of complaint -Promotion letters -Sales letters -Recovery letters

When writing a formal letter, one has to take into account the following: *The language must be formal. *Only use easy and clear language. *Avoid slang and use of abbreviations or contractions. *Avoid adding extra details or information. *Pay attention towards the targeted audience.

FORMAL

*We begin letters with a greeting: Dear..., we use commas not semi-colon. *We write our address, (street, city or village and post code) in the top right-hand corner. *You write the date under the address.

*We can find informal and formal or business emails. *• Generally, we begin informal emails with Dear…, Hi…, Hello… followed by a comma. • The introduction is the first paragraph, here we ask about our friend’s health, we thank her/him for her/his previous email, we mention the reason for writing, etc. Thanks for your email… It was great to hear from you.. How are you?... Hope you’re fine… How’s your family? I have good news about… I’m writing to tell-ask you about… Conclusion: Write soon! That’s all for now! DO Use simple, clear language. Include the important information. Write exactly what you mean. Proofread your document.
